[ 2WARS AND A REVOLUTION ]

Relative newcomer to the funky-arse breaks block is the interestingly named Canadian label 2Wars and a Revolution.   After only one and a bit years on the scene, 2Wars has certainly been drawing worldwide attention and setting tongues awag with their stable of dancefloor destructive artists.  Their self-described brand of ‘full-on- beat-driven-take-no-prisoners-headphunk-invasion’ has been receiving acclaim from press and DJs alike since they first released the revered Scissorkicks 12” ‘Clap Yo Hands’, a rollicking, huge breaks track.

With a string of highly praised releases under their belts, 2Wars have just released the ‘Year one-Volume One’ compilation, celebrating their experiences over the last 12 months.

Heading the label in managerial duties for A&R, and with a part-ownership, is 2Wars stalwart The Incredible Melting Man.  Working as a producer, remixer, and DJ, his sound is influenced by funky breaks and rasta.  He produces explosive, megawatt funky nu skool toons with bad-ass basslines, scintillating rhythms and cheeky samples.  Mssr. Melting Man is also well known for his work with Dust2Dust Records.

Anthony Chapman, aka Scissorkicks, is a 2Wars protégé with a distinct, influential sound and an arsenal of secret weapons in his back pocket.  Originally hailing from the UK, Scissorkicks has been setting dancefloors in the US on fire with his phat bass sounds, hard loops and undeniable groove.   He even won a place in the prestigious DJ Magazine’s top 10 records of the year list (1999/2000) with his first release for 2Wars.  Since then Scissorkicks production has gone from strength to strength, and he has been releasing his secret stash of some of   the hardest, ripping beats known to humankind.

Simon Paul joins the ranks of the 2Wars stable with a reputation to uphold.  The team first heard of him on the back of his Laidback Lab recording ‘Go’, released in 2000.   Apparently, this producer has a tremendous imagination and enormous initiative to boot, especially when he locks himself away with his analog gear.  According to 2Wars, Simon is injecting a fresh of breath air into funky breaks and extending the barriers of sound and style even further.

Rounding out the 2Wars collective is innovative hip hop producer, Rubicon.  When not pumping out phat sounds under this moniker, Rubicon also caters to his love of breaks under the guise of Set Killa.  Debuting on the 2Wars ‘Year One- Volume One’ comp. With the track, Boom Diggi.
