[ ANARCHY: THE ONLY WAY? ]

Chris Schroader

As I read, watch and hear about the riots in Genoa, Seattle, and other cities, I see a large amount of violence and anger. The 'Corporate Media' and others try to use the violence and the anarchy to discredit the message that all of these groups are shouting.

The problem is no matter how much, or how loud people shout, the big brother wannabe groups continue in their destructive and oppressive ways. The people that are protesting are from so many different backgrounds, races and political agenda, yet they all shout the same message: These global companies and banks are destroying and exploiting the environment and less fortunate people of the world.

Too Many Reasons, Too Little Time

In many cases, the media tries to portray these protesters as confused. The reason that the protesters may come across as confused is that they all have different reasons for hating the global entities. There is little mention from the media about the atrocities being committed by these groups and how they seem to have angered all but the most complacent. It is not that the message is not focused, it is not because the message is weak, it is because there are so many wrongs to protest, and no matter what people do, the bad guys are unaccountable and nothing changes. The media is not focusing on what it is that these groups are doing and what the harm is that they are causing, instead, they focus on the bad things the protesters are doing.

So now we see the bottom line. No matter what protesters say or do, no matter how loud they shout or yell, no matter how many come out to protest, nothing changes. Peaceful protest used to be a good way to make a difference. Unfortunately, the powers that these protesters are fighting cannot and will not be bullied by mere voters or public opinion. These groups are so powerful and rich, not to mention global, that they are untouchable. So now we have large groups of our populace that have no way to stop this growing monster. Most protesters are anti-violence, most hope in vain that their message will be heard and headed. Then we have the ones that see nothing being done by any powerful leaders or anyone other than these angry protesters. Nothing is changing. When people loose their democratic rights, their ability to affect a situation by voice or debate, the only thing option left is physical.

The more and more people scream in the face of a perceived evil, just to see it laugh at or ignore them, the more prone to physical action they become. I see a growing movement from the people towards more and more destructive means of protest. Riots and violence are only going to get worse.

The protesters are doing the only thing left they can do in the face of such power and influence. They are doing what the complacent lack the balls to do. These protesters are putting their lives and well-being on the line to protect the world.

Fight for Your Rights

I must say that I am not an advocate for violence. Yet there comes a time when we have to fight for our freedom, our environment and our rights. In America, we fought the 'Redcoats' to gain our independence. In World War II, the allies fought against world domination, exploitation, ethnic cleansing, etc… We also fought for human rights. We have fought the same battles in many different countries and many different wars. Many of our soldiers are considered heroes, many of us see these battles as necessary and righteous.

These battles still rage today. Yet now the ones that fight for what is right are deemed the bad guys; they are made out to be radicals and Anarchist. Their credibility and message is distorted and diminished by a corporate media, the governments and corporations that have all of the power, and that are well integrated in to the global movement.

I see things getting a whole lot worse. I believe that soon we will see the riots and other incidents used to gain support for martial law and other usually unacceptable practices used to gain and retain control. People who speak out against the global movement will be branded as anarchist and radicals. The credibility of peaceful protesters and activists will and already has been tarnished. This will make the global entities stronger and the voice of the people weaker. I truly think the global entities are quite aware of this and may even look forward to it.

Tales from the False Side

In the future, we will see the face of these global entities, smiling and saying how great things are because of them. They will show a beautiful face of peace and love. The will try to show a face of community and acceptance. And every one that is against them will be made out to be a bigot, radical, anarchist, conspiracy theorist or some other kind of less than credible, unsupportable person or group.

This is the way of big business. This is the way of corrupt power. One only has to look at today's headlines to see prime examples of the same kind of two-faced helping and hurting, perpetrated by these groups.

Let us take the Tobacco Industry and Phillip Morris, and their commercialized public face vs. the real face. Phillip Morris has put millions of dollars in to trying to make themselves look good. They have come out with commercials showing them distributing food to the needy, etc… Then they turn around and fund a report in the Chez Republic about how the early death of smokers saves the government money. They research ways to make their product more addictive. They add chemicals and all sorts of stuff to drive up profits at the sake of customers. All of this on top of the fact that they are pushing a drug and a product that kills millions and millions of people every year.

So they take a few boxes of 'Mac N' Cheese' out to some hungry refugees and it makes it all better. Now they are the good guys.

No matter how many people die in the fight against cigarettes, no matter how many people fight for legislation, no matter how many people shout and cry for justice. Nothing really changes. They just go global so they can avoid the regulations and kill internationally more people in the ways that become outlawed in America.

This is just one sample. This is just one reason why violence has become more prevalent in these demonstrations. People are frustrated and no matter what they do, the global entity just keeps on growing in power and influence.

People are going to fight for some kind of revolution. Unfortunately, in the end it may just help empower the ones they are fighting. So what can people do?

Is Anarchy the only way?
